Social Marketing @ ANZMAC, in association with the Australian and New Zealand Marketing Academy Conference (ANZMAC), will bring together scholars and practitioners to share current ideas and practices in social marketing and to create valuable networks for the future.

This event includes the Social Marketing @ ANZMAC Mini Conference and Social Marketing @ ANZMAC Workshops.

Social Marketing @ ANZMAC Mini Conference presentations will explore key insights relevant to the today and tomorrow of social marketing. It promises to be thought-provoking showcase of current social marketing understanding and practice.

Jeff Jordan

Targeting young people puts social media front and center in Jeff’s work at Rescue SCG. All 25 social marketing programs include social media components. In fact, Rescue SCG will spend an estimated US$10 million in 2014 on social media strategies within comprehensive social marketing campaigns. So, how do social media contribute to behaviour change? And what strategies best support social marketing models?

During this unique workshop, Jeff will be presenting the evidence-based strategies that he and his team have successfully used to support social marketing programmes with social media. Jeff will review strategies from all the top sites including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Vine and Youtube, as well as emerging sites that are changing every day. Jeff will review strategies to generate action online and how to motivate your audience to spread your message for you in an authentic way. Forget about “likes” and “followers,” this is about reaching your audience on a deeper level to ensure that their online interactions turn into real life action. By the end of the workshop, participants will have multiple actionable lessons to take home to their programmes. This workshop is a unique opportunity that you don’t want to miss.

Understanding our target audience is key to changing their behaviour. One tool that helps us to understand our target audience is segmentation. Segmentation is about classifying the target audience into groups (or segments) likely to behave in similar ways or to have similar needs. Each segment can then be reached more effectively through social marketing strategy tailored to these behaviours and needs.

But how do we go about classifying our target audience into segments? During this workshop, Alan will explain the different ways that target audiences can be segmented, as well as the steps of segmentation, using practical examples.
